This is a unique vessel operating in the Great Lakes from Minnesota. It is a floating convenience store, one of two left in operation. Built in 1939 as a floating convenient store ("bumboat") for the sailors aboard the Great Lakes ships. The vessel has shelving and display cases throughout along with a large beer cooler and all specialty racks. She was rebuilt in 1998 and the main engine was rebuilt in 2000. Her hull was blasted and epoxy/coal tar applied in 1995. The hull is 1/2" plate and will walk through 8" ice like its not even there. The Bumboat is a very well known boat and has been featured in magazine articles and television nearly every year of her career. She's a fine vessel in great shape.
